A lovely quick visit from Ballyvaughan is Cahermore Ringfort. This is a perfect stop after Aillwee Cave if you are heading for Poulnabraone Dolmen.

For the longest time after I moved to Ballyvaughan, I would always notice cars parked in at the side of the road and never knew what they were doing. One day I took a walk up to see for myself and found Cahermore!
This ringfort has a restored entrance and a beautiful look out point which gives great views of the area. Very little has been done in terms of excavation of the site but a coin from the 1690’s was found on the site.
