1. Plan around your interests.

The Burren has a lot of activities and events throughout the year. Of particular interest is the unique flora and fauna that can be found here. These artic and alpine plants live harmoniously together in the Burren and they are a must see. These orchids and gentians start blooming in Spring so May, June and July are the best times to see them.

2. Ask the locals.

Never be afraid to ask the locals for recommendations on what to see and do. They often have ideas for places that don’t make it to the guidebooks. This is especially true if you like hiking. There are so many great hiking trails in the Burren that are lesser known that locals can point you to.

3. Stay another night!

It is impossible to see the Burren in a day. It is way more than just the Cliffs of Moher. There are great places to see, things to do, we have the freshest seafood and the best people. Stay another night and give yourself a chance to truly experience the Burren.

4. Rent a car.

Public transport will get you around but a car will give you more freedom. If you don’t feel confident enough to drive then hire a guide to bring you around.

5. Bring a rain jacket.

You cannot expect to have great weather on your trip. More than likely it will rain at some point of your stay. Don’t let the rain stop you from having a great time. Bringing waterproof gear will allow you to get out and have a great time!

6. Come in Spring, Autumn or Winter

The Burren is open all year. The summer is extremely busy meaning it might not be as enjoyable as earlier or later in the year. Most businesses stay open until October and those who close for winter reopen in March. As well as that plenty of places stay open year round so instead of choosing June July August consider a break in May or September.
