This is definitely one of the most boring walks that we’ve been on in the Burren. It’s a nice walk if you want an easy Burren walk but after that it doesn’t offer much.

Where to start/finish

Start at the beach car park in Fanore. Turn left and then right at the church and from there just follow the arrows around.

It is 14.5km and should take about 3 hours or so.

Walking the Caher Valley

My greatest annoyance about the walk is that the first few and last few kilometres are road walking. It takes a long time before you go off road. Then it’s a slight climb to the top before walking the level green and the descent is again by road.

Although neither of us enjoyed the walk, I have a friend who brings groups on the same walk every year so it is a personal preference.

There are several walks that start from the same point and I just completed the Ballyvaughan Fanore Trek. This one was a much better walk rewarding us with better views and more enjoyable terrain. You can find the post later in the blog. For this reason, I won’t be doing the Caher Valley Loop again but will definitely still continue to do the remaining walks in that area.
